Blogger Men Tell All [Link-Up #5]

Can't wait to get to know your man and the type of relationship the two of you have even better today!

Take it away Parker...

What is your favorite memory with your blogger?

Favorite memory... thus far... I'd have to say the best/funniest/embarrassing would have to be back from high school when I kissed her in the parking lot at church.... pastor saw it all... still hear abut it today.

What is her best quality?

Best quality. Would have to be making best of any situation and finding the positive out of it.

What is something the two of you enjoy doing together?

Well.. best thing we do together I think is on weekends (when i'm not working) is getting up early and grabbing a coffee and just hanging out together.

What is your favorite post of hers that she has ever written?

She's a pretty dang good writer (and witty). I have enjoyed just about all of them. Best ones are recaps from weekends at lake or when her relatives are around.

How much time do you think your blogger puts into blogging each week? (And what are you normally up to when she's blogging?!)

If it were up to her... she would probably do it full time and quit her current job. I bet she puts in 10-15 hours a week on it now... maybe more ... I'm usually sleeping or I'm working when she blogs. I'm sure it keeps her occupied since she can't seem to function normally when i'm not here :)

[Sam's note: Ok, I don't know about "not being able to function" and I definitely don't put in anywhere near 10 hours but cute that he thinks I do.]

Blogger Men Tell All [Round 5 Questions]

If this week had a theme song it would be titled Better Late Than Never, because it just seems to be how things were happening this week. And I guess I do firmly believe that it is better to do something late than just give up and never do it at all. Which is why we are posting our BMTA questions today instead of a few days ago on Tuesday like we normally do because.... better late than never. And let's be honest, you all had your men answer the questions at the last minute right before the post goes live anyway, right? Oh is that just me?

This month's link-up will be so fun because not only will we get to know the guy better, but we'll also get to know you and hear more about the relationship the two of you have. You know the drill... questions below - see you with your post on Tuesday!

Blogger Men Tell All is a monthly link-up hosted by myself, Becca, and Melissa as a way to get a man in your life involved in your blog. All you have to do is have him answer these 5 questions and link-up your post with us next Tuesday! Can't wait to hear what those guys have to say!

T-G-I-F :: Daily Gratitudes

oh hey friday, high five for friday, friday fives, friday blog post, feeling thankful, day designer This picture has nothing to do with this post but it looked warm and made me feel happy so there ya go.

T-G-I-F!!! It's Friday and I didn't give myself enough time this morning to write out a post so it's a quickie today. I've still consistently been writing down one piece of daily gratitude at the end of every day:

+ My new planner :) I just love planning, and writing in it, and making lists.

+ Lunch dates with Jeanne and Addy. There's nothing better than breaking up the day with a best friend lunch date.

+ Busy days that make the work day fly by!

+ Working out - man, I missed that. It felt so good getting back into it the other day. I'm even looking forward to going again at the end of the day today.

+ Shopping + dinner date's with mom at Maxwell's. This is probably the reason I didn't give myself enough time this morning...

I would suggest trying to write down one thing you're thankful for at the end of each day. It definitely reminds me how lucky I am and to appreciate even the smallest of things in life. Happy Friday and have a great weekend! It's supposed to be in the 30s again here like it was yesterday - heat wave!!!

3 Things I Will NOT Do In 2015

I don't think it's ever too late to set goals, make new plans, or do whatever other life-changing things you may decide to set your mind to - at least this is what I keep telling myself since it's basically halfway through the first month of the year and I'm just getting around to it. I've thought a lot the past few weeks about what my goals are for the coming year. I didn't pick a word of the year and I didn't set a new year's resolutions - mostly because I really don't think I'm good with words so I couldn't come up with the one and my new year's resolution probably would have been something stupid centered around weight loss and exercise that would last about a day. Just being honest.

However, my new planner (Day Designer) has en entire section at the front about setting goals, defining your passions, and dreaming big so I decided to work through it a bit the other day. For a very realistic, analytical person it's hard to dream that big. It's hard to put on paper a bunch of things that I'd love to do or accomplish in 2015, no matter how crazy or outrageous they are - but I did it. I also wrote down a few things I'd like to focus on in each of the core values of my life - Family, Financial, Career, Spiritual, and Personal.

Now I just realized I'm blabbing on and on about this and there is no way in hell I'm going to share these things here - for some reason they seem so personal to me. It feels like a diary that I only want to keep for myself. I didn't even let Parker look over my shoulder the other morning as I was working through the pages. But overall I spent a lot of time thinking about the person that I want to be and become in 2015 and beyond - things I like about myself, things I want to be better about, changes I want to make in life ... you know, all that grab life by the horns and just be you kind of stuff. So I decided that for now I will share the 3 things that I will NOT do in 2015...

2015, 2015 blog post, new year, new year's, new year's resolution, goals for this year, setting goals for the new year, word of the year, confidence, 3 things I won't do this year, cheers to 2015

I will NOT care so much what other people think.
You would think sometimes that I'm 14 years old and worried what the popular girls at school think. I worry way too much about other people. I worry what they think; I worry if I hurt their feelings when I made that joke; I worry what they'll think about my own decisions about my own life; I worry that she didn't text me back so she must be mad about something It.is.exhausting and I would love to let go of this.

I will NOT put every single thing above exercising on my mental list of priorities.
I do not exercise unless my apartment is clean, I don't need anything from Target, I have 4 days of blog posts written and scheduled, dinner is planned out and prepared for 2 nights, and tomorrow's lunch is ready - so basically never. I need to make this a priority and stop moving it down the list to do if I have time. I have not exercised for a long time and I miss it, I really do, so I need to get back into a good routine and habit of putting it in my Top Three.

I will not say things out loud that put myself down.
Think about it. How often does someone compliment you on your outfit and you completely brush it off and start telling them how what you really wanted to wear wasn't clean so you had to settle for this and it's not even comfortable and you should've curled your hair to go with that top - or some other similar situation. I would like to start accepting compliments and not respond to them by putting myself down in some way, no matter how small. I think the self-help or inspiration books call this negative self-talk... yeah, that needs to stop.

I think this all boils down to confidence - so maybe in the back of my mind that will be my word of the year for 2015. I want to be confident in myself, how I look, how I feel, the people I surround myself with, and how I choose to spend my time. Easy enough, right?

Did you make a New Year's Resolution or choose a word-of-your-year for 2015? I'd love to hear about the goals and aspirations your have for yourself, especially if they are similar in any way to mine. It's always nice to connect with someone else working toward the same things! Leave me a comment below or shoot me an e-mail (thesamanthalife@gmail.com).

Oh Hey, Friday || Gratitude Edition

Oh thank god, the first full week of 2015 is done! Now only 19 more weeks until we get another paid day off of work! Ugh, November and December fly by thanks to Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and the whole paid-holidays-off thing; and then January comes around and the next paid day off is Memorial Day. Memorial Day = shorts weather which seems to be nowhere in sight right now. But we'll just keep on truckin'.

With my new Day Designer planner (eeeek!!! :) ) there is a Daily Gratitude section at the bottom of every page that I have decided I am going to fill in every single day. Even if my daily gratitude is the fact that I got to take a lunch break or have time for coffee in the morning, I am hoping that I can jot down one small thing every single day that I am thankful for. Looking back on old planners is kind of like looking through a journal or diary (I have kept my planners from the past few years!) And I think that the gratitude section specifically could be fun to look back on.

So today, for my oh hey friday fives, I'm going to share the past 5 things that I listed in the Daily Gratitude section of my Day Designer...

[an insta-shot of my week]

|| This week's Daily Gratitudes ||

1 || Relaxing weekends in comfy pants <3

2 || Target runs after work :)

3 || Sparkly gel manicures (& warm gloves)

4 || An evening alone to unpack, organize, & listen to BSB

5 || Long, hot showers + uggs

The way I see it, things could be a lot worse. Happy Friday to all of you!

Tour Through Blog Land

I got nominated awhile ago by Becca (@ Becoming Adorrable) to participate in the Tour Through Blog Land and what do you know, I just seem to be getting around to it now! 'Tis life :) But I love hearing what other bloggers' writing processes look like so I'm still going to join in today, even if I am a little late to the party!

blog tour, tour through blogland, tour through blogs, blogging, blog life, writing process, make time for blogging, blogging projects

1 || What am I working on?

Currently, I just seem to be working on making time to consistently write in general. With all the hustle and bustle of life (and especially around the holidays) it isn't always easy to prioritize writing and other activities that fuel our mind and soul. I guess more specifically I host a link-up (with Becca and Melissa) called Blogger Men Tell All that you can read more about here.

2 || How does my work differ from others in its genre?

Honestly, what is my genre? If I knew what genre I fit into I may be better-prepared to answer this question. Then again, why do we feel a need to fit into a group or label ourselves. I have a blog, and I like it - don't really care what group I fit in or how my work is unique. I'm me, isn't that unique enough?

3 || Why do I write/create what I do?

I never thought I would enjoy writing as much as I do. I started a blog because I was like hey, that looks cool - how hard can it be? (famous last words). It's definitely not easy but it's definitely worth it. I truly have come to enjoy sitting at my computer and writing from my heart - I guess that's why I do it.

4 || How does my writing/creative process work?

Plan plan plan. And when you don't have a plan, wing it. If you've been around these parts for awhile you know I like a plan, and planners, and talking about the plan...and talking about my planner :) When a post idea or thought comes to me I either write it down or type it in the notes on my iPhone before the idea is gone. I then write this post when I feel like it, sometimes starting, stopping, and saving as a draft along the way. And I use my everyday planner to plan out blog posts for the upcoming week. But that's just because I like a plan :)

And now I nominate Laura (@ Mrs. Laura Beth) and Krista (@ Classy Sassy Mrs.) to take us on a tour through your little blog world!

C U R R E N T L Y | 1st Edition of 2015

Wow, 1st blog post of 2015 already. I've actually done pretty well writing the date correctly so far so I've at least got that going for me. It has been cold here - like the temps have been right around 0 or below, which means that with the wind chill it's more like 30 to 40 below. Yes, this is the time of year when I really do think we must be crazy for living in this part of the country and putting up with this.

I seriously feel like the little boy from A Christmas Story every morning by the time I get on my dress pants and sweater, scarf, coat, mittens, and sometimes headband - I can hardly move I'm so bundled up just to make it from my apartment building to my car. The summers and falls around here are pretty neat though so I guess that's why we stick around.

currently, planning, hoping, baking, wearing, resolving, currently link-up, linkup, currently blog post, wednesday link-ups, #currently #linkup

Currently planning... for our trip to Maui in just a little over 3 weeks!

Currently hoping... that things will all work out.

Currently baking... chicken; because it's what's for dinner.

Currently wearing... pants, socks, blouse, sweater, scarf, coat, mittens, and headband; every single freaking day because it's COLD.

Currently resolving... the Christmas money situation. December is a month of talking, buying, planning, and delegating the shopping extravaganzas. And January seems to be a month of resolving debts with different family members to make sure we all come out even :)

Pretty soon here I think I'll probably write a Welcome 2015 post with goals, plans, etc but we'll see if I get caught up on things soon. For now, I'll just list it in my new planner as a To Do for the weekend - I love breaking in new planners :)
